Founder of the IyawoAlhaji Itoku Community and Development Initiative, Mrs Oladunni Sodipo has called on eligible voters who have registered for the Permanent Voter Card, PVC, to collect their cards through the appropriate channels provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

She made the call while addressing market men and women at Gbangba Market in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the commencement of the Operation Protect Your PVC awareness campaign.

Mrs Sodipo popularly known as IyawoAlhaji Itoku, said the initiative was aimed at promoting voter education, responsible civic participation and peaceful elections.

She explained that the campaign, which began as IyawoAlhaji on Voter Registration, had evolved into Operation Protect Your PVC to encourage citizens to take greater responsibility for their participation in the democratic process.

The community advocate urged traders, artisans, youths and other eligible citizens to obtain accurate information about PVC collection and ensure that their cards were kept safe.

She stressed that the initiative was non-partisan and not designed to promote any political party or candidate, but to educate citizens on the importance of participating peacefully in elections.

Mrs Sodipo also appealed to market associations, community leaders, the media and other stakeholders to support voter education and help to curb the spread of electoral misinformation.

She cautioned youths against political violence, noting that no election was worth the life of any Nigerian.

The campaign with the theme "From Registration to Protection — Your PVC, Your Vote, Your Power" featured a road show aimed at taking the message of PVC collection and protection to markets, streets and communities across Ogun State.
