The Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Augustine Eguavoen has commended the Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi for his commitment to grassroots football development through coaching education and certification.

Eguavoen gave the commendation in Ijebu Ode while receiving a delegation of the Ogun State Football Association and the state chapter of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, ahead of the CAF D Coaching Course scheduled for October 21 to 26, 2026.

The former Super Eagles defender said the increasing demands of modern football had made professional training and certification essential for coaches seeking to improve their knowledge and advance their careers.

He explained that although Nigeria had produced several talented coaches over the years, the evolving nature of the game required coaches to acquire specialised knowledge through structured training programmes.

Eguavoen therefore urged grassroots coaches to take advantage of the forthcoming course, noting that coaching qualifications would provide them with the necessary foundation to progress to higher levels of the profession.

He also reaffirmed the NFF's commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening coaching development across the country.

The course is being organised by the Ogun State Football Association in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, under the leadership of Coach Victor Agbagu.

In a remark, the Ogun State FA Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi reaffirmed his administration's commitment to providing grassroots coaches with opportunities to improve their technical knowledge, obtain professional qualifications and advance their careers.

Alhaji Majekodunmi assured the NFF Technical Director of the association's readiness to host the programme, expressing optimism that it would enhance the professional capacity of participating coaches and contribute to football development in Ogun State.
