The Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has donated educational materials to his alma mater, Wesley Nursery and Primary School, Ilisan-Remo, and other schools in Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

The gesture, according to the SUBEB Chairman, is part of his efforts to support basic education and appreciate the people who have stood by him over the years.

Presenting the materials, Evangelist Ifede said the initiative was in line with SUBEB’s vision of ensuring that no child is out of school and that every learner acquires the ability to read, write and communicate effectively.

The items distributed included school uniforms, sandals, pencils, exercise books, biros and cleaning materials.

Evangelist Ifede said the materials were not meant for specific pupils but should be given to any learner who was in need.

He urged teachers in Ikenne Local Government to intensify efforts to identify and enrol out-of-school children, stressing that no teacher should demand money from parents before enrolling their children in public schools.

The SUBEB Chairman also called on well-meaning individuals, politicians and other stakeholders to support basic education in their various communities.

Earlier, the Education Secretary, Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusesan Odumusi, described Evangelist Ifede as a leader committed to the education and welfare of children.

Also speaking, the Ward Nine Councillor in Ilisan, Hon. Adekunle Oduwale, and the Council’s Supervisor for Education, Hon. Jamiu Sonuga, commended the initiative, saying it would enhance the learning experience of pupils in the community.

The Headteacher of Wesley Nursery and Primary School, Ifetayo Komolafe, appreciated the SUBEB Chairman for the gesture and assured that the materials would be distributed to deserving learners without bias.

Responding on behalf of the pupils, Pelumi Aberuagba of Wesley Nursery and Primary School and AbdulAzeem Bello of St. Barnabas Primary School, Ilisan-Remo, thanked the Chairman for the donation and prayed for continued strength and blessings for him.

Other schools visited during the exercise were African Church Primary School, Ansar-Ud-Deen School and FOMWAN Nursery and Primary School, all in Ilisan-Remo.
