Wealthy Nigerians, corporate organisations and philanthropists have been urged to support the less privileged to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardship in the country.

The Chairman and Founder of Yomight Foundation, Chief Abayomi Aina made the call during the foundation’s monthly food distribution programme for two hundred residents of Kuto and neighbouring communities in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The exercise, held at the Isale Oja Kuto Health Centre, is part of the foundation’s humanitarian efforts to provide food assistance to vulnerable members of society.

Chief Aina acknowledged the efforts of government at all levels to improve the welfare of citizens but stressed that limited resources made it necessary for privileged individuals and corporate organisations to complement government’s efforts.

He said the foundation adopted monthly food distribution as a core programme because of its belief that providing food to the needy was a way of preserving human life.

Also speaking, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly and aspirant for Abeokuta South Constituency Two, Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa commended the foundation for sustaining its humanitarian activities without government appointment or political backing.

He pledged to partner with the organisation to extend its interventions to more communities in the constituency if elected into the state legislature.

Hon. Ademuyiwa also appealed to residents to remain patient with the government as efforts continued to deliver the dividends of democracy.

In a remark, the Otun of Kuto Land and former Vice Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, High Chief Lateef Adenekan, praised the foundation’s initiative, describing the monthly food distribution as a timely intervention that would ease the hardship faced by beneficiaries.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Dupe Hamodu of Oke-Ola Community expressed appreciation to the foundation for its commitment to humanitarian service.

Another beneficiary, Mr. Sanni Raheem of Ajegunle Community, described the initiative as life-saving, noting that the consistent distribution of food items to two hundred residents every month was a commendable effort.

He prayed for the continued growth and success of the foundation.
